The first step before you even think about design options, is to ascertain whether your loft is suitable for a conversion, and if it is the best way to add more space to your home.
1. Head Room
The minimum requirement for a loft conversion is 2.2m, measure from the ridge timber to the top of the celling joist, if you have 2.2m then you will be able to have a loft conversion.
2. Choosing Your Design
This all depends on the style of house, whether it will be a Velux Window Loft Conversion, Dormer Loft Conversion or Hip-To-Gable Loft Conversion.

Making sure you have suitable space for stairs with a minimum head clearance of 2m.
